Lorenzana allayed fears of a looming garbage crisis in Central Luzon, pointing out the presence of three operational facilities that may serve as alternatives once the contract for the operations of the Kalangitan sanitary landfill in Capas, Tarlac expires.
The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) vows to continue its efforts to develop New Clark City in Tarlac into a premier industrial hub that can attract local and foreign investors, in line with the Marcos administration’s socioeconomic agenda.
BCDA President and Chief Executive Officer Joshua M. Bingcang made this pronouncement following President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s bilateral meeting with Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, where the president highlighted New Clark City as a viable destination for Singaporean investors.
In light of the recent concerns surrounding the impending expiration of Metro Clark Waste Management Corp.’s (MCWMC) 25-year contract for the Kalangitan sanitary landfill facilities in Capas, Tarlac, the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) will assist local government units, government agencies, and locators to explore alternative solutions for the affected stakeholders’ waste disposal requirements to ensure non-disruption of solid waste management services.
