Japan Credit Rating Agency (JCR) upgraded the Philippines’ credit rating by a notch from BBB+ to A- , citing the country’s resilience amid a pandemic that has slowed down growth, impaired fiscal positions and hurt credit ratings of economies across the globe.

JCR assigned a “stable” outlook on the new rating, which indicates that the “A-” will be maintained over the near term.

The repatriated overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who arrived in Clark on June 6 were sent home after being quarantined for only three days as they tested negative from COVID-19. The OFWs received the results of their RT-PCR tests within 72 hours since they returned to the country.

The last batch of residents from Mindanao who were stranded in Clark due to travel restrictions imposed by the government were finally sent home Saturday, June 7, to reunite with their families.

Through the efforts of the Department of Tourism (DOT), Department of Transportation (DOTr), Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), Clark Development Corporation (CDC), Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC),  and the Davao City local government, the 10 individuals were sent home via the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

The We Heal As One Center-Philippine Arena sent home on Friday 78 recovered patients, mostly overseas Filipino workers, after testing negative from COVID-19.

The country’s maximum daily testing capacity reaching almost 42,000 will allow the government to expand its targeted testing to cover asymptomatic individuals, especially in communities with high risk of COVID-19 transmission, National Action Plan Against COVID-19 Deputy Chief Implementer Vince Dizon said Thursday.

“Dahil sa malaking capacity natin nationwide, lalo na sa Visayas at sa Mindanao, pwede na tayong lumagpas pa sa mga may sintomas. Dapat ang goal na natin ngayon sa expanded targeted testing ay paghahanap at pagte-test ng mga asymptomatic,” said Dizon.
