42 more cops get new homes from BCDA

Another batch of 42  policemen and their families are now assured of suitable housing through the initiatives of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) in collaboration with the National Police Commission (Napolcom).

The BCDA Management and Holdings Inc. (BMHI) distributed last week documents enabling the 42 policemen-beneficiaries to move into their new homes at the Pamayanang Diego Silang in Taguig City.

Present at the awarding rites held last April 3 at the Napolcom offices in Makati City were BCDA executive vice president and BMHI president Isaac S. Puno III, BMHI vice president Georgina D.J. Jota, BMHI estate manager Gilbert Baltazar, Napolcom vice chairman Eduardo Escueta, and Napolcom directors Isidro Siriban and Conrado Sumanga Jr.

Also last week, the BCDA formally turned over to the homeowners full administrative control and supervision over Condominium II at the Diego Silang Village.

“We are turning over to you the estate management functions over Condocorp—after over six years. These are years of preparation for self-governance. These are years when you have become more and more responsible for your own affairs. And BCDA’s role has been progressively diminishing,” Puno told the homeowners during the affair.

The government-run housing project, also called Pamayanang Diego Silang Village, consists of 2,190 units with floor areas ranging from 36 to 56 square meters.

The units have been awarded to Philippine National Police personnel through a lease to own agreement with the BCDA. The recipients would be paying monthly rentals of P1,500 to P4,000.

A salient provision of the contract enjoins the beneficiaries to maintain a clean service record, otherwise the award would be canceled and the unit to be given to another qualified applicant.

These contracts were awarded to other beneficiaries. In fact, 30 contracts have been rescinded July last year for various violations of the contract and policies being implemented by the BMHI.
